gongs give a good effect and a bad effect; ones to keep in mind are:

good:
? BLESSED, uncurses a cursed artifact if you have one
? permanently upgrade a random spell
? gives you a random artifact
? +50% exp

bad:
? CURSED (this one’s the worst- it’s approximately equivalent to two wounds, but harder to cure)
? causes you to forget a random spell that’s rare in your run (which can include occultist starting spells
? DEAF
? summons enemies after a warning and ~3 turns (not terrible, but you need an escape route)
? -50% exp

Do all noises have the same radius? I feel like some sounds (alarm traps, "disembodied shrieking" curse) should have a much larger radius than others. In fact, since stepping on a trap already makes a click noise that alerts nearby enemies, do alarm traps actually do anything at all?

no- i’m pretty sure gunshots have double the normal radius, at 12?

There are two levels of loudness
"Normal" travel about as far as your line of sight
"Loud" travels double that
So yeah an alarm trap should alert monsters within 12 travel steps for the sound
But I've also thought that they usually don't really do anything
Often you stumble upon them when no one is near anyway
It could be that there should be an additional level that alerts at 18 distance

there's the skippable intro level, 19 normal levels, d20 and d21 are special levels, 9 more normal levels with different terrain generation, then the boss level, then the final level

d10 to d19 have some different properties
in terms of level gen
